Akshay Kumar Wasn’t Considered A ‘Good Actor By Any Reviewers,’ Claims Producer Vipul Shah

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has made a name for himself in the Hindi entertainment industry with his versatile performance. Having gained recognition as an action star, he moved to doing comedy films, which are considered cult classics. In the past few years, he has taken to doing biographical and based on true events movies, which always leave fans teary-eyed. However, filmmaker Vipul Shah, who has worked with Kumar, feels like the latter is unaware of the greatness he is capable of.

Explaining the same, Shah shared that the actor developed an “I don’t care” attitude because no one, including the audience and the critics, took him seriously as an actor. Talking to Gallata Plus, quoted by News18, the producer shared, “In my first two films when I was working with Akshay, I realised here is an actor who himself doesn’t know what he is capable of. He was just being labelled as an action hero, and in that era, he was changing his image by doing comedy films, but people were not taking him seriously.”

He went on to add, “Maybe, he was never considered a great actor or even a good actor by any reviewers, so he also kind of had this ‘I don’t care’ space. But, I thought that he had a lot more to offer.”

Recalling how he witnessed the Jolly LLB 3 actor easily switching between his emotions for scenes while not breaking the character, Shah said, “Well, when you’re working with someone, you get to see how they’re approaching a scene, how easily they can switch. Like, yesterday we were doing a comic scene, and today we’re doing a serious, thriller moment, and he could just jump into it. There was no baggage of what he had done last, and it never broke the character.”

On the work front, Akshay Kumar was last seen in the multi-starrer Housefull 5. He will be next seen in Bhoot Bangla, Jolly LLB 3, Welcome To The Jungle, and Hera Pheri 3 in his pipeline. He made his Tollywood debut with Vishnu Manchu’s pan-Indian film Kannappa and will be making his Marathi film debut with Mahesh Manjrekar directorial Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat.
