Amid Deepika’s Spirit Row, Genelia Deshmukh Opens Up About Working 10-12 Hours A Day: ‘There Are Days When…’
Bollywood actress Genelia Deshmukh is all set to make a comeback on the big screen as the female lead with Aamir Khan starrer Sitaare Zameen Par. For quite some time now, Bollywood stars have been reacting to Deepika Padukone & Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit controversy, sharing their take on the appropriate working hours in the Hindi entertainment industry. Opening up about the same, Deshmukh stated that she works for 10 hours a day; however, sometimes the shift also extends to 11-12 hours.
Talking about this, during an interview with Zoom, Genelia said, “It is tough, but it is not impossible. I do work for 10 hours a day, and there are days when the director asks to extend it to 11 or 12 hours. I think it’s fair, but we just need time to make those adjustments. When you have a day or two where you have to overdo, it’s also an understanding and a process that needs to be done.”

For those who don’t remember, a few weeks ago, the controversy between Deepika Padukone and Sandeep Reddy Vanga made the headlines when it was heavily reported that the filmmaker had removed the actress for demanding an eight-hour work shift, being a new mother. However, since it didn’t work out, she opted out of the film.
On the work front, Genelia Deshmukh will be next seen in the R.S. Prasanna directorial Sitaare Zameen Par. The slice-of-life sports drama is said to be a spiritual sequel to the 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. The film marks the debut of 10 specially-abled actors – Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. The film, which also co-stars Aamir Khan, will release on the big screens on June 20, 2025.
