Director Of Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees Slams Aamir Khan’s IPL Final Commentary? ‘Gyaan Mat Baato…’
The Indian Premier League 2025 concluded with an electrifying finale, with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) to claim their first-ever title. The IPL final in Ahmedabad was graced by a significant Bollywood presence. Preity Zinta, co-owner of PBKS, was there to support her team, while Anushka Sharma cheered for her husband Virat Kohli’s RCB.
Adding a touch of stardom to the commentary box, Aamir Khan brought his charisma while promoting his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par. Aamir joined the commentary panel on Tuesday, sharing the mic with Suresh Raina and Aakash Chopra for a 20-minute segment in the Hindi commentary for the IPL 2025 final.
Fans had varied reactions to Aamir’s commentary stint. Some lauded his cricketing knowledge, while others were irked by his perceived bias toward Virat Kohli and RCB. The actor described Kohli as a “perfectionist,” a label often associated with Aamir himself. He also remarked that winning the IPL would be a fitting culmination for a legendary career like Kohli’s. However, not everyone appreciated Aamir’s commentary. Raees director Rahul Dholakia expressed his discontent on Twitter (now called X) on Tuesday night, posting, “Yaar picture ka promotion karo gyaam mat baato. I want KOHLI to win this year and Zinta to win next year! Both these passionate people deserve to win – for their sheer persistence!”

Although Dholakia didn’t directly name Aamir Khan, the timing of the tweet led fans to believe it was aimed at the actor, who was in the commentary box promoting Sitaare Zameen Par. Aamir’s fans reacted strongly to the perceived jab, with some hurling insults at Dholakia. One tweet read, “This is such a cheap shot,” while another sharply commented, “Gyaan baato, isn’t that what you and SRK did the entire Raees promotions?” Within hours, the tweet amassed hundreds of replies, with many roasting Aamir and others criticizing Rahul Dholakia. Later that night, the filmmaker removed the tweet.
Rahul Dholakia, a National Award-winning filmmaker, is known for films like Parzania, Mumbai Cutting, and Lamhaa. His biggest commercial success came with the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees in 2017. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is making his return to the big screen with RS Prasanna’s Sitaare Zameen Par, his first film since the underperformance of Laal Singh Chaddha three years ago. The film is set to release on 20 June.
