Indira Krishnan Recalls Prank By Salman Khan During Tere Naam Shoot: ‘Aap Dekhlo Iska Phir Kya Honewala Hai…’

Though it became a major milestone in her career, working on Satish Kaushik’s film Tere Naam was challenging for actor Indira Krishnan. The movie, a tragic drama starring Salman Khan and Bhumika Chawla, featured Indira as the elder sister of Bhumika’s character.

Recently, Indira shared a memory about a prank Salman Khan played on her during a scene where she had to slap him. She said the prank, involving Salman and his bodyguard, went so far that she cried, fearing her career was over. Indira noted that Salman, Sanjay Dutt, and Suniel Shetty were known for pulling pranks during that time, and she had worked with Salman and Sanjay. “They used to have prank sessions,” she told Galatta India.

She recalled Salman’s warning before the slapping scene: “Aap thappad maarogi toh phir kuch bhi hosakta hai. Aap dekhlo iska phir kya honewala hai (If you slap me, then anything can happen. You see what is going to happen to her next).” Salman’s bodyguard joined in, saying, “Ma’am aapne kya kardiya? Press waale aagaye. Aap van mai jaake baith jaao (Ma’am, what have you done? The press people have come. You go and sit in the van).”

Though she suspected it might be a joke, their convincing act made her believe it was real. “When I looked outside, I could see media people there. Although it was common for reporters to come to film sets back then, it did not strike me at that time. They even said, ‘Ma’am, you will be banned from the industry. Kya kardiya aapne, thappad maar diya Bhai ko?!’ I started crying. Although they eventually revealed that it was a prank, they went on with it for about one hour.”

Calling Tere Naam a “beautiful movie,” Indira praised Satish Kaushik as a brilliant actor-director. She will next appear in Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana as Kausalya.
