Kajol On Kuch Kuch Hota Hai & Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge Sequels: ‘What Happened After The Train?’
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge continue to be two of Kajol’s most iconic films. In an era where Bollywood sequels like Gadar 2 and Bhool Bhulaiya 2 are achieving massive success, and projects like Dostana 2 and Dhadak 2 are generating significant excitement, fans are curious about potential sequels to KKHH and DDLJ.
Kajol, however, believes these sequels are unnecessary. In a discussion with Pinkvilla, she stated, “People say you should make Kuch Kuch Hota Hai 2 when you grow older and fall in love again with Shah Rukh Khan and I’m like… the thing is, that Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was great because it was a different set of people, it was a different world. You still had people who believed in that kind of love.”
She elaborated, “Like that eternal, once-in-a-lifetime kind of love. If you ask someone today, they say that if this (relationship) doesn’t work out, we have ten other options standing on that track over there so it’s difficult in today’s time to conceive a story that has the same belief pattern.” Kajol also rejected the notion of a Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge 2. “Like I can’t imagine a DDLJ 2. Like what happened after the train? No one wants to know. Do you really want to know if they fought over the diapers or not? It’s just wonderful that it’s just left at the end and you know that the train left and it said ‘the end.’ Now you can just leave it to imagination. They lived happily ever after, it’s one sentence, it’s not a marriage so it’s perfect,” she said.
In the same conversation, Kajol addressed her decisions to turn down films that later became major blockbusters. She remarked, “Lots of times, prime example is 3 Idiots (laughs).” The DDLJ star emphasized that she harbors no regrets about passing on these projects. “I feel that those films were theirs, you know, jaise bolte hain na jiska likha hua hai usko hi milta hai..toh, I think that I have done very well for myself without them,” Kajol said.

Meanwhile, Kajol is preparing for her upcoming film, Maa. Directed by Vishal Furia, the film is slated for release on 27 June and is said to share a connection with Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan’s Shaitaan. Ajay Devgn is also one of the producers of the film.
